E-Bike Buyer’s & Safety Toolkit

Large-print pages you take to the shop and hang in the garage. Sit on the bike. Check your class. Check your path. Charge the pack the way the manual says.

Designed to print. You can read the modules on a phone; print the worksheets for the shop and garage.

What’s in the packet

You print what you will use. You do not need to read the file as one long story.

Who it is for

If you have not bought yet Use the shop worksheets. Sit on more than one frame. Do not pick a type from a photo.
If you already have a bike Skip to handling, the battery poster, and the roadside card.
If you are buying this for a parent Do not surprise-gift the bike. They sit on it. You may handle money and getting it home. There is a one-page insert for that.

How a shop visit works

Do this in order. Do not start with the motor speech.

  1. Say where you ride (street, path, HOA). A hangtag is not permission.
  2. Sit on the frame. Feet on the ground at a stop.
  3. Ask the card: class label, listing (UL 2849 is the electrical system — “tested to UL” is not certified), charger match.
  4. Lowest assist from a stop in the lot. Throttle from a stop if the bike has one.
  5. Roll it the way you will at home.

If this shop has no test ride → do not guess fit from a size chart.

Battery poster

Charge with the charger that came with the bike. Stay with it. Never charge while sleeping. Unplug when the cycle is done.

Store at the level your manual names. Different brands use different percentages. This packet does not promise extra years of battery life.

If the pack is swollen, wet, dented, leaking, odd-smelling, or too hot: stop. Do not charge. Take it to the shop. Do not trash it.

Buying for a parent

Fit cannot be guessed from height on a chart. They must sit on the bike. Get the return window in writing before you pay.

What it does not claim

This is a buyer’s and first-month kit. It does not set your path rules. It does not replace your owner’s manual, a bike shop, or local law. It is not medical, legal, or fire-code advice.

United States. American English. Class 1 / 2 / 3 is a teaching model — check your state and your path.
